It reads real, messy handwriting
Old cursive, abbreviations like “c.” and “T.”, “oleo”, crossed-out numbers, grease spots. Snap a picture and the recipe is typed up for you.

Mom's Molasses Cookies
Desserts · Makes 4 doz · Cook about 9 min · From Aunt Dot
- 3/4 c. oleo
- 1 c. sugar
- 1/4 c. molasses
- 1 egg
- 2 c. flour
- 2 tsp soda
- 1 tsp cinn.
- 1/2 tsp cloves
- 1/2 tsp ginger
- Cream oleo + sugar, add molasses + egg.
- Sift dry things in.
- Chill 1 hr.
- Roll in balls, dip in sugar.
- Bake 375° about 9 min. Don't overbake!
Note it added on its own: “350° is crossed out on the card.”
That's the real, unedited result. You always check a recipe before it's saved; anything the AI isn't sure of is marked [?] so you can fix it. Tap “Explain old words” and it'll tell you that oleo means margarine.
Why Fingertip Kitchen
Made for the recipes that matter most
Every recipe keeps the photo of the card, so Grandma's handwriting is never lost. You can even print it in your cookbook.
One private cookbook the whole family adds to. Invite-only, with voice notes, “from whom” tags, and a family chat.
Save everything to a flash drive any time: printable pages, every photo, and a data file. No lock-in, and nothing hidden behind a subscription.
Cooking Mode shows one big step at a time with timers, reads steps aloud, and listens for “next” when your hands are full.
Big buttons, Extra Large text and a light high-contrast look if you want them, and friendly tips the first time you use each screen.
Add it to your Home Screen. Recipes you've saved open even without internet; reading new cards needs a connection.

Privacy, in plain words
Your family's recipes aren't for sale
- No ads, no tracking, and we never sell your information.
- Private by default. Only you see your recipes, unless you add them to a Family Cookbook, share one to the Community, or send someone a link.
- The AI only sees what it needs: the photo of the card, to type it up. Not your name or password. Please don't scan private papers.
- Delete everything any time from your Account, in one tap.
Questions
Good to know
Is it really free?
Yes. Scanning, your recipe book, family cookbooks, messages, and the cookbook PDF are free, with no ads. Printed books cost what's shown above, and there's an optional “Support” button if you'd like to help keep it running.
Do I have to download an app?
No. It works in the web browser on any phone, tablet, or computer. For an app icon, use “Add to Home Screen” (the app shows you how).
What if it reads something wrong?
You check every recipe before it's saved and can change anything. Words it isn't sure of are marked [?], and it can point out likely mix-ups, like “350” that should be “350°F”.
Recipe on the front and back of a card?
Take a picture of each side. Under the recipe, tap “Add Next Page” and they're joined into one recipe, in order.
Can I get my recipes out?
Any time. “Save to Flash Drive” gives you printable pages, all your photos, and a data file you can bring back in later.
Can I add recipes from websites too?
Yes. Paste a recipe's web address and you get just the recipe, with the site credited, without the long stories. (A few big sites block apps from reading them.)
Save the recipes that make your family, yours.

Before you start
Your privacy, in plain words
A quick look at what Fingertip Kitchen keeps, who can see it, and what you can do about it.
- No ads, no tracking, and we never sell your information.
- Your recipes are private unless you choose to share them.
- You can download everything or delete everything at any time.
- Your username and password. The password is scrambled, so even we can't read it. Same for your security answers.
- Your recipes, photos, voice notes, collections, and shopping list, so they're on all your devices.
- Messages you send, your profile (only if you fill it in), and who you follow.
- If you order a printed book: the shipping name, address, phone, and email. Kept for tax records.
- Simple daily totals, like how many cards were scanned. Just numbers, nothing about you.
No email address is needed to use the app.
- Only you: your recipe book, voice notes, shopping list, and collections.
- Your family: recipes you add to a Family Cookbook, and its group chat.
- Everyone signed in: recipes you share to the Community, your comments, and your profile.
- Anyone with a link: one recipe you choose to “Share a Link” for. You can turn it off any time.
- Private messages: only you and the person you're writing to. We don't read them, unless one is reported to us.
- To type up a card, its photo is sent to Google's Gemini AI (or, when Google is busy, a backup: Groq or Cloudflare). Your name and password are never sent.
- We use Google's free service. Under its terms, Google may use what's sent to improve its products. Please don't scan anything private, like account numbers or medical notes.
- Card payments are handled by Stripe. We never see your card number.
- Lulu prints and mails books, so it gets the book file and the shipping details.
- A copy of your recipes is kept on your device so they open fast, even offline. Signing out clears it.
- Settings like text size are saved only on that device.
